Monk Intro Trailer
| Gameplay DemoMonk Combos | Monk Skills Monk Design The Monk is the fourth class to be revealed for Diablo 3. This class actually first appeared in Hellfire, the expansion for the first Diablo game (see original Monk gameplay). Sadly, the Monk class was overlooked by many players as it was somewhat difficult to play and confusing to level up. This was partly due to the bonuses the Monk receives from fighting unarmed and wearing little armor. As you can likely tell, in a game like Diablo where part of the fun is finding and equipping cool loot, a class that encourages players not to use armor and weapons takes a bit to get used to. Like the Barbarian, the venerable Monk class has been reworked for the third instalment to the Diablo series of games. This class will likely have bonuses to vitality as well as AC bonuses when wearing none or light armor. He will also be one of the faster moving characters in the game with the ability to close in or escape from monsters quickly. Favored weapons for the Monk are staves, claws and other fist weapons. In terms of skills, you can think of the Monk as ¾ fighter and ¼ mage. He excels at fast and precise melee fighting using skills like Crippling Wave and Way of the Hundred Fist. The Monk augments his melee skills by having defensive magic skills like Impenetrable Defense, an ability that actually turns ranged attacks (magic or physical) back on their attackers. Some of the Monk’s other deadly attacks include Exploding Palm (causes the enemy to explode a few seconds after being struck) and Seven-Sided Strike (a blazingly fast attack striking enemies seven times in a small area).
