Wizard

Intro Trailer | Gameplay Demo
The Wizard is the second magic-user class to be unveiled by Blizzard for Diablo 3.  According to the journal of  Abd al-Hazir, she hails from the island of Xiansai and was sent to Caldeum to study under the mage clans.  However, her mage tutors quickly learned how rebellious and dangerous their new student is. The Wizard has a lust for more powerful and even forbidden magics and won't hesitate to blow away anything in her way.

Think of the Wizard as the dark counterpart of the Sorceress.  She is a black magic user that bends the forces of time and reality to her will. Unlike previous mage-like characters who relied on elemental magics, the Wizard is not afraid to also utilize the darker side of the arcane arts. Many of her attacks are long range such as Disintegrate, Magic Missile and Electrocute. She also specializes in evasion magics such as Teleport (which Sorceress players will recognize) and Slow Time(like Amazon's Slow Missiles ability but also slows enemies which enter the sphere). She also has the ability to augment some spells with subset skills, for example: Teleport with Runes skill.

Wizard Skill Tree
The Wizard's three skill branches are Conjuring, Arcane and Storm. Conjuring includes mainly spells that augment the Wizard's melee and close range attacks, stat and attack buffs, as well as including a few close quarters area effect spells. The Arcane Skill Tree focuses on offensive spells that generally target single enemies or are pinpoint type attacks. It also contains a good deal of defensive spell buffs and effects that haven't been seen in previous Diablo games before. The Storm Skill Tree focuses on elemental damage spells that generally do area attacks and have debuff after effects that are great for clearing out a room full of enemies. Note that all skills are not final and subject to change throughout the Diablo 3 development cycle.
